London Road Methodist Church has adopted an elephant as part of Horsham Rotary Club “Elephantastic”. In this event elephants are adopted, decorated to the overall theme of “loving life” and take part in the trail around the town over the summer. After that they will be auctioned by Rotary to raise money for the charities.

The event overall is supporting the Born Free European Elephant Sanctuary, but each elephant will raise money for its own charity as well. Our Leadership Team has agreed to use our elephant to raise money for Action for Children.

Our elephant – ThElmer – is a distant cousin of Elmer. Those of you who remember Elmer will remember he is a rainbow coloured, patchwork elephant. ThElmer will not be patchwork – and we hope that many of you will help us to decorate her and be involved in the process afterwards.

By the time you read this most of the decorating of ThElmer will be done, with just the finishing off to be completed.

We are hoping that Action for Children can obtain celebrity endorsement of ThElmer, which will increase her value in the auction at the end of the summer. If anyone knows of any more celebrities who might endorse her please see what you can do.

We hope to keep you all informed of ThElmer’s Journey on the noticeboard in Wesley Hall, through the Bulletin and on our Facebook page. But if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask.
